This simple border is easy to work up, and can be made in a variety of color combinations.

Terminology:

This pattern is written in US terms.

sl st slip stitch slip stitch

Sizing:

The size of your border will depend on the yarn weight, hook size, and your tension.

The sample in the photo was made with a US size H/8 (5.00 mm) hook and worsted weight yarn, and it measures 1 ¾ ” wide (4.5 cm).

Notes:

Chains at the beginning of the rounds count as stitches. Slip stitches at the end of rounds do not count as stitches.

First, single crochet all around your work to create a nice, neat foundation for your border. Any multiple of stitches will work with this border.

This border can be made with 2 – 4 colors. In the sample in the photograph, I used gray and white. Gray was used to make the single crochet foundation for the border.
